Language

We are so pleased that you have decided to study English Language at A Level with us at PGS in September. We are very much looking forward to meeting you very soon, but in the mean time we have put together some activities that you can be getting on with from home that will help bridge the gap between your Year 11 and Year 12 studies, as well as keeping that passion for English going over the summer months.

The resource from the EMC (see Leaping into Language PDF above) is full of activities all things Language related, specifically designed to help you make the leap from GCSE to A Level.

We always recommend you read as much as you can for any English A Level, so we have also included a reading list which includes some texts from the Literature specification, as well as others that the English department think you'll enjoy. We would love to hear what you've been reading over the summer when you return to us in September!

In addition to this reading list, we have also included some links to blogs and websites that we feel would be beneficial to your English Language studies. Reading a wide range of non-fiction texts will really enhance your ability to access the course content, particularly reading news articles, opinion articles and blogs from a range of different writers and publications.

If you have any questions about the course or would like more information on anything, please contact the Key Stage 5 Coordinator for English, Mr Lloyd at: alloyd@penistone-gs.uk

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!.
